Richard Dix Wardle was born in 1799 in England. He came to the United States in 1833. He married Anna Maria Wiseman and they had three children: Elizabeth Evilina Wardle, (wife of Allen Ortte), Fanny Fern Wardle, (widow of William F. Henry), and Charles Wiseman Wardle.
Richard died November 30, 1860 and was buried in the Cypress Grove cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana.
