Lillian King was born October 1880 in Pennsylvania. Her parents were both born in Ireland. The 1900 US census lists Lillian living with her siblings Thomas, William, Harry, and Dilla in Syracuse, New York. Her occupation in 1900 was "stenographer."
Lillian married Alexander White Gray, who died after fathering four children with Lillian: George Gray, Lillian Gray, Donald Gray, and Idele Gray. Lillian remarried to Joseph M. Ross and they had a daughter, Eleanor Claire Ross.
