Appolonia Sauerberger was born in 1810 or 1813 in Germany. She married Mathias Thoman and had three children: Mary Louise Thoman, J, and Otto Thoman. She died in August 1898. According to her obituary, she was a resident of Jefferson Parish for seventy years, putting her time of arrival in the United States at about 1828.

Appolonia Sauerberger. His sister was Mrs.
Louisa Armbruster. Mattias died in New Orleans in 1850. Otto married the daughter of
John Deniger. Created Pfister & Thoman company in 1866 with Florence Pfister. Became a city council member in 1882 and comptroller in 1888.
